A Journey into the Year of production: 1995 |

Using Gerhard Roth's book as a starting point, the filmmaker goes on a journey of discovery through the texts. He describes both "inner and outer" travel, a journey in essay form, following the routes given by Roth. The stories Roth tells are stories of Austria, of meetings with people who live in the margins of society, of outsiders and the displaced. These are stories of imaginings and delusions, of the other side of the golden dreams, dreamt in Vienna for so long until they dissolved into nothingness. The film is a guidebook through the depths of the Austrian soul. |
